The Witching Season is Here!

It’s October First, which means it’s officially Halloween Season! I wouldn’t say Halloween’s my favorite holiday–Christmas and Thanksgiving top it–but it’s definitely one of the most fun ones. In honor of that, I’m going to post one of my favorite Florence and the Machine songs. This is video is deliciously creepy, and she sounds as ethereal and bold as ever.

Yay, October!

I write speculative fiction inspired by mythos from around the world, complex family dynamics, and my own experiences living with mental illness. After earning my BA in Linguistics from Brigham Young University in 2008, I received my MFA in Creative Writing from Converse College in 2012. I live in Denver, where my husband and I spend countless hours chasing our three young sons (and sometimes catching them!). I collect tarot decks, dye my hair mermaid colors, and procrastinate by decorating my home. My debut novel, Feathers Sharp as Knives, releases on May 2, 2023.

  1. It’s October and yet I’m sitting here, in shorts and a t-shirt, because we’re having a heat wave in the UK O_o

I <3 Florence + The Machine. This song is perfect for October!

    1. It’s been hot here too–in the 80s the last few days. Last Thursday was super nice, upper 60s and breezy. Just perfect. But today, too warm. Hope it cools down for both of us soon!
“Heat Wave in the UK” sounds like it could be a song. ^_^

  2. Just saying the word ‘ethereal’ makes me feel creepy. Unless I’m trying to say ‘Eat cereal’ with a mouth full of Quaker Oat Squares. Then I feel foolish.
